Copro this NOV

What a lineup! Stella returns to LA after rocking things with us earlier this summer. Expect a small showing of new work from her and Nicoletta, but this will be Amy’s first solo in sometime, so hopefully she brings a nice collection of new works for her fans in LA to enjoy. Can’t wait!

Studio visit with Van Arno…

Recently had the honor of being able to visit the one and only Van Arno in his studio over in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. It was great to see Van at work and hear a bit about the new pieces. He’s really pushed himself and this is by far his strongest series of work yet in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing these all framed up and on display this Saturday.

Year of the Wolfbat

An installation by Dennis McNett

Opening Reception: Friday October 2nd 7-10pm

Space 1026 at 1026 Arch St. in Philadelphia, PA

The “Year of the Wolfbat” began in NYC this past June and has since trekked across the US stopping for exhibitions, artist talks and workshops along the way. The migratory flight of the Wolfbats has swooped in for shows at Fecal Face Dot Gallery in San Francisco and Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles. The wolves’ tour will culminate at Space 1026 in Philadelphia with an installation of print-derived sculpture and mural, accompanied by unique and editioned works both large and small.

You can expect to see a loud psychedelic woodcut landscape covering several walls of the gallery in which nature’s bass has been cranked up to 11. Duck your head walking in and make way for an entire flock of hotheaded Wolfbats swooping overhead, not to mention the supercharged eagles diving out of their path to let them through.

Sashie show

‘Twentieth Century Boy’
Featuring new works from Masakatsu Sashie

Opening: Wed, Sept. 30th 7-11PM
1637 Vine Street in Hollywood

This coming Wed, September 30th, Dr. Romanelli and Eric Nakamura (Giant Robot) will be presenting Twentieth Century Boy, a one-night show featuring new paintings by the one and only Masakatsu Sashie paying tribute to T. Rex. For those who don’t know, T. Rex was a 70s British glam-rock band led by singer/songwriter/guitarist Marc Bolan, probably best known for their hit “Bang a Gong (Get It On)” from the album Electric Warrior. Apparently, Sashie is a big fan of the band, and has created a series of works that incorporate images of T. Rex into his ominous and futuristic orb paintings.

The show is a benefit for the Light of Love Foundation, which is raising funds to build the Marc Bolan School Of Music & Film in Sierra Leone, West Africa. For more info, go to trexlosangeles.com.

Halloween plans?

neckface in miami

Book your tix to Miami now for this Halloween! Can’t think of a better way to ring in Halloween then with a solo show from the nasty NECKFACE himself.

O.H.W.O.W. Gallery in Miami may never be the same after this…

NECKFACE
Devil’s Disciple
Opening on Halloween – October 31st
3100 NW 7 Avenue in Miami, FL

NECKFACE will deconstruct all 10,000 square feet of O.H.W.O.W. and build a world like no other. Featuring a large-scale haunted house installation, complete with his iconic imagery, the Devil’s Disciple exhibition is designed to frighten viewers as they enter the space.

Word has it the new works are his best yet incorporating several new elements. Time will tell, but the whole vibe of this show just sounds amazing. Haven’t heard yet how long this is up, but O.H.W.O.W. always throw a good party for Art Basel in December… one can only hope this stays up that long!
