The 15th Annual LA Art Show opens this week…

The 15th Annual Los Angeles Art Show, the largest art fair on the West-Coast, returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center this week – January 20-24. Presented by the Fine Art Dealers Association (FADA) and KR Martindale Show Management this encyclopedic art event will brings more than 100 international galleries to the city. The 2010 Los Angeles Art Show debuts a Guest Country Program and welcomes Uruguay.

The Guest Country Program is comprised of specially curated exhibitions, lecture programming and special project space. It has a goal to showcase nations with strong visual arts traditions that demonstrate a keen understanding of the international climate. Under the direction of the Dirección Nacional de Cultura and the Ministero de Educaión y Cultura, a special exhibition of Uruguay’s top International artists, 34° 53’ 0” S – 56° 10’ 0” W will be on view at the show.

The Los Angeles Art Show features:

-a special performance of artist Nick Cave’s ‘Soundsuits’

-daily live street art by legendary Los Angeles street artists Mear One, Kofie, Retna, and El Mac

-’Signs’ – a Middle Eastern Art Exhibition

-special MFA exhibition curated by Bennet Simpson, Associate Curator at MoCA, Los Angeles

-The IFPDA Fine Print Fair

-Print-Making Demonstrations

-Screening of the Award-winning Film, “All About Prints”

The Los Angeles Art Show takes place on January 20-24, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015. General admission is $20. General Show Dates: Thursday-Sunday, January 21-24, 2010. Opening Night Preview and Gala: Wednesday, January 20th (see site for details / $225 advance – $250 at the door). Damon Soule this February at Thinkspace

Thinkspace is honored to welcome New York City based artist Damon Soule to our gallery this coming February for his first ever solo show in Los Angeles. In ‘Modus Alone’ Soule presents an impressive collection of new work that is sure to challenge and excite all who view it.

Soule’s paintings and drawings have been featured in group and solo exhibitions in such established galleries as Joshua Liner Gallery (NY), 111 Minna Gallery (SF), White Walls (SF), Dorothy Circus Gallery (Rome), Punch Gallery (SF), Robert Berman Gallery (Santa Monica), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (SF), and BLVD. Gallery (Seattle).

Recent shows include ‘New Works’ alongside Oliver Vernon at BLVD Gallery, Seattle (2007); ‘Green Art’ group exhibition at Robert Berman Gallery, Santa Monica (2007); ‘Stories From the Wonderland’ group show at Dorothy Circus Gallery, Rome, Italy (2008); ‘Amused Loon’ solo show at Joshua Liner Gallery, New York City (2008); and ‘Same Loud No’ solo show at Fecal Face Dot Gallery, San Francisco (2009).
