‘The Next Generation’ – Thinkspace x London Miles this June in London, England

May 9th, 2010 Comments off

Nathan DeYoung 'Translucent Skin' - 12x12" - Acrylic on MDF board

Coming up this June in the UK will be a special group exhibition featuring a bold selection of international artists from the burgeoning New Contemporary Art movement that I have been working on for the better part of the past year. The show will be held at London’s London Miles Gallery – the leading outlet for the New Contemporary Art movement in the UK.

The exhibition will feature 12 x 12 inch works of art from a fastidiously handpicked selection of emerging and established artists.

Ignoring preconceptions and enlightening the British art sector as to the artistic and aesthetic integrity of the New Contemporary art movement, the show aims to deliver the best new talent to UK shores as part of this cross waters collaboration.

This exhibition aims to showcase a comprehensive selection of forty-five of the most exciting and talented individuals working within this movement, ‘The Next Generation’ brings the best new international talent to the doorstep of London’s Contemporary art community.

Opening night: Allison Sommers + Joao Ruas @ Thinkspace

May 9th, 2010 Comments off

Starting to fill up - opening night for Allison Sommers + Joao Ruas this past Fri

Opening night pics now posted… thank you to all that came out to support. A most magical opening to say the least. Settling into our groove now at the new space and lovin’ it!

Full set here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thinkspace/sets/72157624026600542/

Folks were loving the magnifying glasses we had set out to further delve into Allison’s hyper-detailed paintings as well as the trays of lil’ smokies (in honor of all the sausages prevalent in Allison’s work). We had great responses to both the work of Allison Sommers as well as that of Joao Ruas, who was on hand for the opening festivities all the way from Brazil. Several artists were on hand to support… Ekundayo, Andrew Hem, Amy Sol, Yoskay Yamamoto, Nate Frizzell, Zoso, Peekaboo, Dabs Myla, Mia and others were spoted opening night.

Both Arrested Motion and Dailydujour were on hand to capture the action as well, so be sure to keep an eye out on both sites for add’l coverage.

Both shows on view through June 4th and some gems are still available from both shows.
