ART from the ashes and the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation are pleased to announce the grand opening of the exhibition to benefit the rehabilitation of Deukmejian Wilderness Park. The exhibition will take place at the planned future home of the Museum of Neon Art on South Brand Boulevard in Glendale and features an impressive collective of over 40 artists who have created one-of-a-kind works of art from debris gathered from the Park after the devastating Station Fire of August 2009.

Labrona gets up in Culver City

Canadian street artist Labrona recently got up in Culver City. Look for him in the recently released book ‘Beyond The Street: The 100 Leading Figures In Urban Art’ and catch his work in ‘Booked’ currently on view through July 3rd at Carmichael Gallery in Culver City.

Robert Williams movie to premiere at LACMA this Wed evening

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Prints and Drawings Council will host the world premiere screening of Rhino Films’ and Foundation Films’ documentary feature, Robert Williams: Mr. Bitchin’. This will be a rare opportunity to catch the film before its release to the public this fall and even meet Williams himself.

The film will debut at 7:00 pm tomorrow night – Wed, June 16th – in the Leo S. Bing Auditorium at LACMA. The legendary art pioneer and Juxtapoz founder Robert Williams himself will attend and answer questions from art critic and Coagula Art Journal founder, Mat Gleason, following the screening.

After the Q&A Mr. Williams will sign books and spend time with the audience. Books will be available for purchase and all sales will benefit LACMA and the PDC.

El Mac and Retna get up in Culver City

Living legends El Mac and Retna recently finished up a massive new collaborative mural over in Culver City on the side of the Graphaids bldg on La Cienega (near Washington Blvd intersection).

The two worked with a small crew for a good half-dozen days on this beauty. Was fun to watch it come together over the past week.
