JR hits the streets of Los Angeles

February 17th, 2011 No comments

French photographer JR has brought his “Wrinkles of the City” project to the west coast this week after its launch in Shanghai. The above piece went up last night in Venice on Abbot Kinney (across from the Rooster Fish bar). Word is this will be the 1st in a series of 20 pieces he’ll be putting up around Los Angeles featuring images of ethnic Angelenos. Can’t wait to see the goodness unfold.

See great coverage of the walls unfolding here:

Lindsey Carr’s debut solo show opens later this month in Suffolk, England

February 15th, 2011 No comments

Lindsey Carr 'White Heron'

Lindsey Carr is a Scotland based artist who has been causing quite a buzz in the past year via some great exposure on some very high profile art blogs around the web. She will be having her debut solo show later this month (Sun, Feb. 27th) at Imagine Gallery in Suffolk, England.

Lindsey Carr 'Memories Of Home'

“Imbued with a subtle melancholy, artist Lindsey Carr’spaintings illuminate the majestic beauty of the birds and animals she captures in her compositions. The carefully rendered and detailed flora and fauna echo the observant and tender eye of Carr, as each portrait reflects the tranquility and balance of the natural world, even when this delicate balance is threatened.” - Hi-Fructose

View a nice survey of her recent works that Hi-Fructose recently posted here:
www.hifructose.com/the-blog/1264-lindsey-carrs-flora-and-fauna-.html

Following a very favorable response to her piece that we profiled in our 5 Year Anniversary Exhibition this past November here at Thinkspace, we’ll be having Lindsey back this September for her debut solo exhibition in the States. She’ll be showing in our project room as Aaron Nagel and Jennifer Nehrbass show in the main gallery.
