Information on the gallery/university:
The Joseph Gross Gallery, located on the campus of The University of Arizona across from The University of Arizona Museum of Art, was built in 1993 as part of the new Arts Complex for the College of Fine Arts. The Gallery was originally established in 1978 with a generous endowment from Joseph F. Gross, Professor of Chemical Engineering, in memory of his father, Joseph Gross, Sr. The Joseph Gross Gallery strives to include diverse audiences, diverse contexts, media, conceptual content, and an interest in new technologies and ways of seeing and art making. The 2,500 square foot gallery space provides a showplace for the work of students, faculty, and those artists whose work can both impact and interact with the University and community. The Gallery presents approximately eight exhibitions annually including solo and group exhibitions by nationally acclaimed artists, faculty and alumni shows, and MFA Thesis Exhibitions.

DABS MYLA at work in their Hollywood studio

Recently made the trip out to Hollywood to visit the studio of Australian duo DABS MYLA as they begin work on ‘The Best Of Times‘. The team have been unstoppable as of late – everything from designing a new line of t-shirts to designing a new tour poster for Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder to killing it back in their homeland of Australia. Whew! This globetrotting couple is turning heads and selling every piece they create as they continue to gain momentum and new fans in the process.

A look at the early stages of some of the new works for 'The Best Of Times'

This will be the first studio visit I post as I plan to swing back a bit closer to the show and take some add’l pics. Hi-Fructose and Daily Dujour will also be doing studio visits in the month ahead, so be sure to keep an eye out for those. They are deep into the show at this point and I’m happy to share with you all a lil’ sneak peek into the goodness factory that is their studio. BIG plans are in store for this August, for now, take a peek at the paintings coming to life. More details announced soon!

Also watch for an in-depth interview with the couple to be posted on Erratic Phenomena closer to the exhibit.

Opening night of Scott Radke and Jen Lobo at Thinkspace

Scott Radke and his creations

Thank you to everyone that made it through for the opening of our current shows with Scott Radke and Jen Lobo. Both artists had an amazing time and the gallery just looked stunning with both shows playing off one another in beautiful fashion. Radke just arrived back home to Ohio after driving cross country to the show and got in touch and asked that I pass along his thanks to everyone, he was over the moon to see a gallery filled with his sculpture and photography for the 1st time. Both shows are still on view, so don’t miss your chance to check them out in person if you find yourself in Culver City over the next couple weeks.
