‘Dig For Fire’ – a tribute to the PIXIES – curated by Kevin Titzer

July 15th, 2011 Comments off

We’ve been working with Kevin Titzer now for close to five years and during this time he’s been cooking up the idea for a show that would honor his favorite band the PIXIES. While working together on his recent solo show, the notion came up that we would help him find a good home for this show… enter our friends Patrick and Tanya at the C.A.V.E. Gallery in Venice, CA on the hip Abbot Kinney Blvd. Together we’ll be presenting Kevin’s dream show. ‘Dig For Fire’ will feature 34 artists interpretations of songs from the PIXIES amazing catalog. This special exhibition is being presented with full support from the band and their management.

(l-r) Pakayla Rae Biehn, Jeff Ramirez, and Kevin Titzer

Thank you to everyone that came out last weekend for the opening of our new exhibitions featuring works from Pakayla Rae Biehn, Jeff Ramirez, Kevin Titzer, and David Cooley. There was a great energy in the air and all the artists work really played nicely off each other with many patrons jokingly referencing the OCD nature of all the works on view and if that played into this month’s curation. Each featured artist’s craft is unique and each intensely intricate in their own special ways, showcasing the almost unfathomable amount of time and focus needed to create each.
