Ekundayo will be making his NY debut next Friday, April 3rd alongside Joshua Clay at Ad Hoc Art in Brooklyn… big plans are in store, as both will be living in the gallery for almost a full week leading into the show. We wish them both the best and can’t wait to see some images of what they are getting up to next week. We’ll be sure to post some shots if we are able to get any. We did get a few sneak peek shots from Dayo, and those are posted here. I was hoping to make it out, but just too much going on right now to make the break east.

The ultimate Ekundayo collector…

The Hundreds recently went over to the home of Linkin Park‘s Joe Hahn to check out his collection and posted up a sweet lil’ spread of pics. Joe has been a big supporter of our gallery and the artists we work with since day one and has more original works from Ekundayo than anyone else… including the above beauty from his 2007 solo show with us.

Check out the full feature here: http://www.thehundreds.com/wordpress/?p=7557

Ekundayo & KMNDZ this past weekend with Robt. Williams…

KMNDZ did the logo and painted up the show room of GAS a couple years ago (aka Galpin Auto Sports in the San Fernando Valley where the show ‘Pimp My Ride’ is filmed)… this association led the Galpin family to invite Johnny to come on out and paint a mural during an event they had this past weekend. Johnny brought along Ekundayo and together the pair unleashed the above sick tribute to Rat Fink (measuring 8′ x 4′).

The event was a wild night that saw the boys hanging out and getting advice from Robert Williams (pictured above with the duo), Camp Freddy rockin’ the stage with Ozzy on vocals as they painted, and a bunch of very expensive cars on display including the debut of a couple new cars from car customizer to the stars George Barris.

Red Forest is up through Halloween… don’t miss your chance to view this amazing exhibit in person!

Press praise for ‘Red Forest’ starts to stream in…

“Judging from the crowd that showed up for the opening, KMNDZ & Ekundayo careers are going in an opposite direction when compared to the stock market right now. Entering the gallery was like entering into their own little post-nuclear apocalyptic world.” – Arrested Motion

“The work from both artists is extremely good – each artist has a strong vision and the excellence in execution to draw viewers in completely and totally. Perhaps more importantly, both artists manage to mix the visual sugar with a sense of contextual depth that elevates the work beyond mere eye candy. Some onlookers proclaimed the show, “the best of the year”. That’s arguable but it’s safe to say this is one of the highlight shows of the year and should definitely put people on notice about both Ekundayo and KMNDZ. If you’re not watching both of these young artists, you need to start – now.” – Daily DuJour

‘Red Forest’ opening night…

‘Red Forest’ opened last night to a packed house… above are shots of the finished front room install/mural area…

The evening’s artists (l-r): Jeaneen Carlino, Ekundayo, Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez, and Michael Alvarez

Below are a series of shots of the finished interior before the crush of the opening night crowd invaded…

By 7:30PM we were packed and it never let up till way past midnight. What a night! Huge props to Ekundayo and KMNDZ for delivering what many in attendance claimed to be “the show of the year”, from gallery owners to collectors to regular patrons alike, all were praising the show throughout the eve. We’re honored to be hosting this show, but all the praise most definitly should be geared towards the artists as they poured their hearts into this show and it shows.

Tons of additional opening night action posted here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thinkspace/sets/72157607945862375/
Some great opening night shots have also already been posted over here by our good friend Gino, check ’em out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joukar/sets/72157607929212374/
Some great works still available, view them here: http://www.sourharvest.com/thinkspace/2008/redforest/works.php
There’s also some great lil’ street gems still available (see below) when we left last night at 2AM… look about our block…

Watch for more news to be posted over the coming month…

The transformation continues… Red Forest nears…

KMNDZ and Ekundayo have been living at the gallery pretty much since Sunday afternoon and are down there pulling an all-nighter again tonight. Transforming the gallery from the ground up, so much going on… below is a candid shot of Johnny and Jeaneen both putting the finishing touches on a piece from earlier this evening…

Meanwhile, upfront in the entry area, Ekundayo is busy laying down the foundation for what will be an absolutely awe inspiring mural to great our patrons as they enter the gallery…

So much still to come… they are sleeping at the gallery, just going off on the place.

Flavorpill.net have named it the art event of this Friday in LA…

“Hot off the success of their individual Thinkspace exhibitions, Ekundayo and Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez join forces for their first-ever collaborative collection at their favorite Silver Lake gallery. Named for the “most radioactive place on Earth,” Ekundayo and Rodriguez’s Red Forest features paintings that focus on man and his many vices, comparing the effects of nuclear power plants to the effects of drugs, alcohol, and general debauchery.” – Ashley Tibbits (FLAVORPILL.NET)

Don’t miss this show. I can’t say much more than that.

Jeaneen Carlino studio visit…

Jeaneen Carlino‘s Moments of Bliss opens next Fri, Oct. 10th alongside Red Forest from Ekundayo and KMNDZ and Assholism from Michael Alvarez.

Jeaneen just shot us over a few shots of her studio and of her working on some of the pieces from Moments of Bliss.

Check out her ‘Sneak Peek’ flickr set here:

Below is her piece “Womb of Man”. This particular work from Jeaneen was one of the first we exhibited from her and helped to start our relationship with her and now resides in our permanent collection. Just love this piece and we wanted to share it with you all since this was from when we first started working with her a couple years back…
