Rise Long Beach LBMA

Rise Long Beach kicked off their Artober covering “Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension” that is currently on view at the Long Beach Museum of Art. They’ve written great description about each artist and their work in the exhibition. Check out Rise Long Beach’s coverage of the show here.

Ariel grew up atheist so she uses the crane as a way to pray, and make wishes. She loves being able to participate in prayer using the crane gives her the ability to meditate, and focus on a hope, wish, goal or dream without having to know who she’s directing them to. – Rise Long Beach regarding above image.

“Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension” currently on view until October 16th.

Three Simultaneous Museum Exhibitions Now On View : Final Weeks

Thinkspace is currently involved in three major museum exhibitions, all of which are coming to an end soon, so we wanted to be sure and share a lil’ recap with you all. Full details on each show are below, along with links to purchase some of the original works featured in these landmark exhibitions for the New Contemporary Art Movement. 2016 has been an eventful year for our gallery, and it’s far from over yet. We still have our big show with the Brand Library and Arts Center in Glendale, California this November and SCOPE Miami Beach this December in Miami, Florida during Art Basel week, to look forward to.

2016 also marks our 11th year operating as a gallery, a year that saw us play host to 26 solo exhibitions // curate six major institutional-level exhibitions in Honolulu, Fullerton, Long Beach, Lancaster, and Glendale  // take part in major art fairs in Los Angeles, New York City and Miami // curate a 100+ artist group show in Chicago with our friends at Vertical Gallery // take part in building the foundation and permanent collection for the Urban Nation Museum in Berlin, Germany // produced numerous murals in Los Angeles and abroad // published numerous sold-out editions // placed hundreds of original works of art into new homes the world over // all in all, a very active and productive year for our gallery.

It will be sometime before we kick back and rest on our laurels here at Thinkspace. Too many are doing that these days or are simply tossing in the towel due to these new and more challenging times that gallery owners now face. By branching out of our white cube, we’ve kept things exciting and challenging for us, regularly providing new opportunities for our family of artists. With each new major museum exhibition we help to put together, there seems to be another door waiting to be opened and we will always be there to help push it open, ever ready to keep guiding our movement forward, pouring gas on the flames of opportunity and bringing the artists we support to new corners of the globe, all the while growing their patron base in the process.

Looking ahead to 2017, we already have four major museum exhibitions in the works, a curated show in Detroit with our friends at Inner State / 1xRun, two new artist monographs from Thinkspace Editions, a major event in the United Kingdom set to profile some of our most established artists & more that’s cooking we can’t share yet… all in tandem with our exciting exhibition program here at our gallery and our dynamic fair schedule. So much to look forward to, we can’t thank you enough for being along for this amazing adventure and for all your support over the years.

The Summer of Telmo Miel

telmo-miel-strange-to-us

Prolific artistic duo Telmo Miel has had a busy summer! They kicked off their season of murals at POW! WOW! Long Beach in conjunction with their piece for “Vitality in Verve in the Third Dimension” at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Before heading back over the Atlantic, Telmo Miel painted another fantastic mural piece at the Fullerton Museum Center for their mini exhibition “Lost and Not Found”. Once back in Europe, they hopped from country to country creating new pieces in 4 different countries from Italy to Norway. Absolutely killing it with 7 murals in 3 months, and  we don’t anticipate them slowing down.

Make sure to catch Telmo Miel’s exhibition “Lost and Not Found” at the Fullerton Museum Center in the Foyer Gallery before it closes next Saturday, September 24th.  Please visit the Thinkspace Gallery website from more information on Telmo Miel and view all available work from the artists here. Now let’s scroll through their amazing pieces; title and location is above the photos.

‘Vitality & Verve : In The Third Dimension’ at the LBMA | After Dark Opening Celebration

Artist, Craig ‘Skibs’ Barker with his installation.

The opening celebration for Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension at the Long Beach Museum of Art presented in collaboration with POW! WOW! Long Beach and Thinkspace Gallery sold out of tickets and set the mood for the summer. Smiling faces, fascinated spectators, and passionate art enthusiasts explored Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension engaging with the artist and the art.

The public and museum members enjoyed a myriad of installations and murals created with various materials ranging from fiber, wood, plastics, acrylics, resins, cardboard, textiles, paints, ceramics, paper,  and reclaimed materials.  Last summer’s exhibition, Vitality & Verve : Transforming the Urban Landscape saw over 22,000 visitors during its run and we’re hoping this latest show beats that record.

Below is a visual tour of Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension‘s opening celebration After Dark at the Long Beach Museum of Art, photos courtesy of Birdman Photography.  The presentation of Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension is made possible by the generous support of The Port of Long Beach, JetBlue, Pasadena Art Alliance, the Bauer Foundation, and Thinkspace Gallery.
