(Los Angeles, CA – February 22nd, 2008) Thinkspace Gallery is proud to present Mergers & Acquisitions. This exhibition will feature new paintings, custom toys, and original sculpture from the artist couple Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters.

Artist info:
Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters are both multi-media artists who reside in both Tampa , FL and Albuquerque, NM.

Kathie has been featured in numerous galleries across the globe and is represented in the permanent collection at the Tampa Museum of Art. She received her bachelor's degree in visual arts from the University of South Florida and has been exhibiting her work since 1996. Brandt Elling Peters is an internationally exhibited self-taught artist whose work is formed from the eclectic backdrop of his childhood; filled with ancient cartoons, Victorian toys and pre-WWII vintage ’Pop’ ephemera. Both are currently working on limited edition vinyl toys with MINDstyle and Wheaty Wheat Studios.

The collision of the their individual dark and dreamy worlds allow both the opportunity to explore new characters and storylines - Alluring pin-ups and corroded robots invade soft, post-apocalyptic landscapes inhabited precociously mutated tots. The cast is inspired by early American portraiture and depression era animation that often depicted children as small adults in idealized new lands. The series focuses on imperfect characters that parallel this vision within their own sense of post-apocalyptic conformity, uniquely documenting their own stories and building their own defense mechanisms in mysterious brave new worlds.

Matthew Feyld bio:

Matthew Feyld is a Saskatoon based artist. His drawing process is a combination of imagination and reality. Feyld's work creates an on going narrative, often drawn from real events, and experiences leaving a large amount of room for interpretation. Ink, watercolour, and acrylic are the tools he uses to create a world where both human and animal share more than just their boots.

Feyld has exhibited in Canada , England , Belgium , Germany , Australia , Japan , and all over the U.S. from NYC to Seattle to California and back again. His work was also recently featured in the NY Times Magazine and was included in this year’s Bridge Art Fair in the UK as well as the Aqua Art Fair in Miami during Art Basel.
