Overview:
The three artists featured in “What’s Left To Ponder?” all
share common sentiments about the interplay of the conscious and subconscious
interpretations of history, movies, myth and pop-culture, but not in an obvious,
literal way. Their work is laden with many coded personal, historical, and
filmic references that are intentionally vague, often whimsical, and somewhat
critical. On the surface their work may not seem to have much in common, but
it is their own individual obsessive nature towards their art and process,
as well as their friendship with one another and their appreciation of art
and art history, that brings the three together. Though each recognizes the
subtle nuances and conceptualism that is essential in the art they make, there
exists an equally wicked sense of humor, wit and tongue-in-cheek observation
that makes it all palatable.
Joshua Krause bio:
Even as a little boy, artist Joshua Krause (b.1977, NYC) found great pleasure
in picking up the tiny pieces of trash that littered the ground, constantly
reprimanded by his folks for picking things up with his hands. But one day,
Joshua dropped down to his hands and knees on the sidewalk, lowered his head,
and picked up a piece of gum with his mouth. It was this genius rationale that
unquestionably pushed little Joshua in the direction of artist. Joshua lives
in San Diego, and he uses paintbrushes, sandpaper, his hands, and yes, sometimes
even his mouth. His list of past clients includes the likes of Fuel TV(FOX
Cable Networks), The New York Times, BPM Magazine, Revelation Records, San
Diego City Beat and many more.

Tim McCormick bio:
If you’ve ever wondered how the kids they used to test Kroft Super Stars
(Syd and Marty Kroft’s 70’s freakout puppet program) turned out,
look no further. Born and raised in Southern California, Tim McCormick brings
to his work a unique perspective on issues of fame, pop culture, and self.
Perceptions of suburban banality set against the surreal backdrop of Hollywood,
as well as the influence of San Diego’s early surf and skateboard subculture,
manifest themselves in the artist’s already considerable body of work.
Developing a self-taught methodology over the past fifteen years (no portfolios
or submissions here), McCormick is regarded as a standout within the Southern
California art scene and currently exhibits extensively in Los Angeles, New
York, and throughout the greater U.S.

Jason Sherry bio:
Jason lives and works in San Diego. He received a bachelor's degree in fine
art from San Diego State University. His work has always been set apart from
the artists with whom he shows due to his distinct style and concerns of content.
Jason is concerned with the real and the unreal so subsequently his work is
photographic in nature. "I am concerned with presenting the absurdity
of human history and culture by assembling disparate objects and images into
new objects of great humor and meaning."
