“If you’re looking for one art show to attend this year, I’d like to suggest Thinkspace’s upcoming 5 Year Anniversary blow out. Established in 2005, Thinkspace is one of the few galleries who doesn’t just follow trends, they start them.” – MyModernMet.com
’5 Years / 5 Questions’ with Pakayla Rae Biehn
Tell us a little bit about your piece for Thinkspace’s ‘5 Year Anniversary Show’ this November?
It’s in the vein of my other recent oil paintings. Except I’m bringing some bits of nature into this one.
What were you doing back in 2005 when Thinkspace started?
2005 was a temperamental year. I was a mathematics major, making strictly charcoal drawings and living in a cloud.
Name 5 things you can’t live without in your studio?
My carefully selected set of oil paints, the word “tender”, my little silver tea kettle, Netflix’s ‘Watch Instantly’ feature, loads of smooches, and PMA.
Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
Oh, who knows, I’m too into the present to let the future take up space, but I hope that I’m still being creative in some way.
What have you got coming up in 2011?
A two person show with Jeff Ramirez at Thinkspace and perpetually being covered in paints.
