Tran Nguyen 'As We Procure A Hazy Memory' - Acrylic and graphite on Rives BFK paper

This November Thinkspace will celebrate our 5 Year Anniversary. To help celebrate we’ve put together a group show we can’t wait for everyone to see this coming November.

’5 Years / 5 Questions’ with Tran Nguyen

Tell us a little bit about your piece for Thinkspace’s ‘5 Year Anniversary Show’ this November?
– “As We Procure a Hazy Memory” focuses on the occasions in which we try to remind ourselves of a certain memory buried too deep to distinguish vividly. Instead, the memory is hazy, dim, and mysterious with little definition. This act is universal to us and no matter how hard we may try, procuring memories this deep can never be fully retrieved. Thus, continues to wander in our minds and on the “tip of our tongues.”

What were you doing back in 2005 when Thinkspace started?
– Crazy, I graduated from high school in ’05, living the careless life of a teen.

Name 5 things you can’t live without in your studio?
– My Escoda brush, computer, a pillow, art/reference books, and some company every now and then.

Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
– Out of debt, haha.

What have you got coming up in 2011?
– For the main entree, I have a huge solo coming up (at Thinkspace July ’11), and for the side dishes, some spectacular group shows.
