L&M Arts opens a new show this evening featuring the works of Barbara Kruger. This is Kruger’s first solo show in LA since 1999, when she exhibited at MoCA. Kruger is a major influence on Shepard Fairey among many others, so do yourself a favor and check this show out. The exhibition will feature Kruger’s multi-channel video installation The Globe Shrinks (2010) in the East Gallery along with a room “wrap” that visualizes and spacializes her ideas around money, power and desire in the West Gallery. On the exterior of the gallery, Kruger will also create a projection using two recent works, You Want It and In Violence, combining images and text that address wanting and needing, winning and losing.
