‘Civilization’ video from Yosuke Ueno

Yosuke Ueno just shot us over another short film that he’s created as he prepares for ‘Elements and Oddities’. This new piece documents the paintings “Electric Civilization” and “Great Civilization” coming to life inside his studio over in Japan mixed with powerful imagery from the past tumultuous month there. These new paintings are powerful commentaries on the current state of things in Japan and shed light on a very personal struggle currently facing Yosuke and all those that live in Japan and that have loved ones residing there. The current events in Japan have indeed weighed heavy on Ueno and are a major influence on his new series of work debuting April 30th at Thinkspace alongside new works from Toronto’s Jacub Gagnon.
