From July 3rd through August 7, new works from Lucas Lobo and Imon Boy will be on view in our Viewing Room / Office Area.
Imon Boy short bio:
Born in 1992 Imon Boy has spent years in the world of graffiti, alternating between street art and other studio projects, in a parallel yet enriching manner. In a self-referential way, he brings all which has made him who he is into the artistic realm: graffiti, videogames, internet, cinema, music, or travel, to create stories marked by cartoonish characters in seemingly comical situations. The key factor in his production is the union of these pop elements with his curiosity for drawing and the search for the expression of irony, quirkiness, and joy within new forms and scenery. His works are full of bright and colorful detail which, influenced by pop and graffiti, evoke in the observer a sense of playfulness to take life less seriously by.
While Imon Boy closely guards his identity, much of the inspiration behind his work comes directly from his day-to-day experiences as a graffiti writer in his native Málaga, one of Europe’s oldest cities. Whether detailing his run-ins with local law enforcement, pondering the mysteries of modern romance or poking fun at the so-called “graffiti establishment,” his paintings and illustrations are tongue-in-cheek but surprisingly tender, exploring and evoking universal themes and emotions.
In addition to tagging walls throughout Spain, Imon Boy has exhibited in locations including Munich, Seville, Hamburg, Sydney, Taiwan, Madrid, and New York City.
Lucas Lobo short bio:
Lucas Lobo lives and works in Brazil… past that, he is an enigma, even to us. His hyper detailed, overly saturated works are a mind-bending menagerie of pop culture imagery funneled through Lobo’s unique lens.
