Been a bit since I posted any recent additions to our ever-growing collection of contemporary art. The above piece is one of the stand outs from Australian duo Dabs Myla‘s recent ‘Golden Age’ show. These two have a busy 2010 ahead with solos planned in Australia, Japan and Los Angeles. Keep an eye on ’em!
We also just received a great new work on found wood from Canadian street artist Other (currently held down in Berlin, Germany) from his recent holiday sale. This joins a great work on metal we have from Other (that’s etched into the steel of a street sign) and we are stoked to finally get one his original paintings on our walls.
Below is our sole purchase from all the fairs in Miami this year. With the holidays around the corner, we needed to behave ourselves and we just love Kozyndan and we’ve been wanting one of their detailed ‘Unknown Portraits’ gems since we 1st heard of them last year. Thanks to the good folks at Magic Pony, who also published Kozyndan’s book of the same name, we were able to score one for our collection.
Much on our radar for 2010. Still holding out hope for a larger work from Masakatsu Sashie in the near future. Be sure to check out our regular and ongoing ‘recommended openings’ posts here for all the shows we’re keeping an eye on. As 2009 comes to an end, we’re already anticipating some of the big shows on tap for the 2010 season. Stay tuned to Sour Harvest for all the latest on all the hot shows coming up in LA.
