KCET COVERAGE OF ROBERT WILLIAMS “SLANG AESTHETICS!”

KCET Interview

There is an obvious art movement happening, we are just pressed for finding the right title. Whether it’s called post-contemporary, pop surrealism or low brow art; former underground artist Robert Williams is a father to this movement. Founder of Juxtapoz magazine, Robert Williams was interviewed for KCET Artbound. In the interview, Williams’ discusses his artistic development and influences, along with his thoughts on where this movement is headed in regards to the formal art world.

“My stuff, if you look at it, and you look at it psychologically, it’s contrary to our social mores,” he says. “Its outlaw art, maybe tamed down a little bit.”

You can read the full article on KCET’s website. Robert Williams “Slang Aesthetics!” and “20 Years Under the Influence of Juxtapoz” are on view at Barnsdall Park till April 19th, 2015.
